3 Reasons You Need Logos Bible Software

Why You Need Logos Bible Software

I’ve used Logos Bible software for years now to help with all of my Bible study for sermons and books.

So I want to give you just three of the big reasons why I use Logos and why I think you should use it too.

Why you need Logos

1. The Size of Logos

Before Logos, when I was preparing a sermon, I would go to the library or my bookshelf and pull out every book that I could find on the subject.

Then, I’d have to dig through each book and find the page I needed. Before I knew it, there were stacks of books and research materials on my desk.

It took up a lot of space in my office. And when I transitioned from one church to the next or moved office spaces, I had so many books to pack and carry with me. It’s all exhausting.

Now with Logos, I can pull up all of my resources and books on my phone, iPad, or laptop. I literally have thousands of books that could fill a seminary library in my pocket.

That right there is just one reason why Logos is awesome. It saves space and the burden of carrying all of my books around.

With Logos, my library is both bigger and smaller—bigger in the number of books, but smaller in space to store them.

2. The Speed of Logos

Logos saves you time when you’re doing serious Bible study.

Before Logos I would take my giant stack of books and thumb through each of them one page at a time, trying to find what I needed.

So if I was doing a sermon in 2 Thessalonians, I would open a Bible and find 2 Thessalonians. Then I would want to look at it in another translation, so I’d open up a second Bible of a different translation. Then a third.

But I’d also look at a few different study Bibles and commentaries, and I’d inevitably get distracted by other interesting books. Before I knew it, 15 or 20 books were cluttering my desk.

And if you clocked how long it took me to go to the bookshelf or library, find each book, pull it off the shelf, and open them all to the corresponding pages that dealt with the passage that I was studying, it could take an hour or longer.

But with Logos, I can open it up, type “2 Thess”, hit enter, and I’m done. I have all of my commentaries, study bibles, different translations, and more just in seconds.

With Logos, you can do what could take you up to an hour in seconds.

3. The Power of Logos

The features and abilities of Logos are unmatched.

You can do incredibly powerful searches throughout the entire Bible, all of your commentaries, or your collection of systematic theologies for specific topics, themes, or people.

With a quick search, you can pull up everything Jesus said about serving others. Want to see every passage where the Bible talks about alcohol? It’s easy.

If you want to dig into the original Greek or Hebrew of a passage, you can see an interlinear comparison between the original language and the English translation with the click of a button. Then, you can click on a specific Hebrew or Greek word, and it will pull up the lexicons and dictionaries so you can learn all the roots and the meanings of each word in the text.

Even if you don’t know Greek or Hebrew, it will help you have a better understanding of what the original text says and get some incredible insights. Even if it doesn’t make it all the way into your sermons or your writing, it’s going to help you.

And that’s only the tip of the iceberg. There are more so many features that I haven’t even tapped into all of them yet. I also use Logos to follow a Bible reading plan and save notes and highlights in my personal study.

Logos is the leading Bible study software for a reason. It’s powerful.

There’s a bit of a learning curve to Logos, but once you learn how to use it, it will save you time, save you space, and help you do more powerful and fruitful Bible study than ever before.
