Video Book Summaries For Busy Pastors
You are busy. You have more to do than you have time to do it.
So how do you manage to squeeze in personal development time into an already packed schedule?
I love reading books, but I have more books to read than I have time to read them.
Good news. There is a great new resource to help: Ministry Library.
Full disclaimer: Ministry Library has been a faithful partner of ProPreacher for a long time now as our most consistent advertiser. I learned about them through their partnership with my site. However, this review is not a paid advertisement.
I do not make a commission or anything else for you to check our their site. I was sincerely interested in the good work they were doing and was happy to write a review for them.
I have been using Ministry Library for the past month, and I’m loving it.
Ministry Library is a great service that offers short video summaries of today’s top ministry and leadership books.
You will find books on the topics like church growth, leadership, small groups, communication, and church planting.
There are summaries of some of my favorite books like EntreLeadership by Dave Ramsey, Axiom by Bill Hybels, 5 Levels of Leadership by John Maxwell, and the library is growing constantly.
In addition to the video summaries, they provide three additional resources for each book:
1. Printouts
This is a written form of the video book summary. Great for printing out as a reminder, or for sharing with your team.
2. Workshops
This is a great leadership development tool to guide you and your team through discussing the content of the book together.
3. Private Facebook Community
The Facebook community was a surprise benefit for me. Here you can interact with other pastors across the country who are also using Ministry Library. It’s a great forum to ask questions and get answers.
One way I have found Ministry Library to be helpful is for quick tips in specific areas I am working on.
For example, if you are struggling with your staff or volunteer team, you can pull up the Five Dysfunctions of a Team video, and get quick insights and tips to help you build a better team.
Even if you have read the book before (like I have), unless you have a photographic memory, the video is a great reminder.
In summary, Ministry Library is a great personal development and team development resource for the busy ministry leader.
It will never completely replace reading books, but it will help you glean information from some of the best books available and find books that you want to invest the time to read further.
But don’t just take my word for it, head on over and see for yourself.
